As we are continuing throughout this past week, I am constantly reminded by all of the things that I want. I want to be prepared for my classes, I want to be able to finish all of my homework and studying, I want to worship God and lead others closer to him. But I also want safe travel to and from Chicago and around the city, and good communication with everyone I encounter. I also want other things, like the chance to see my friends and eat good food and maybe possibly relax! As we are leaving the story of Saul behind us and looking forwards to David, I am still caught up in asking myself...

To my church family I thank my God every time I think about you and this Church! As I shared during the sermon on Sunday, these last few weeks have been a very difficult time for me. I am now almost reaching the point in my life where I feel caught up and at ease with everything that I need to do and everything that I am going through, Thanks be to God! I am thanking you all for your continued support for me and my life since I came to this church. I have had the opportunity to grow and learn in more ways than I believed that I would. I want to encourage you, my church family, of a couple of...

This past Sunday we talked about the Good News and what it means for us, and also what we should do with Good News. Since that Sunday I have been looking at new ways on how to experience and share the Good News with others. I haven’t encountered any new opportunities yet but I am encouraged to keep looking so I know when to share the Good News with people, and I encourage you all and am praying for you all to do the same, as I hope you are doing for me! As you go about this week, be on the lookout for the chance to share some Good News with someone who needs...

Coming out of our final sermon in the sermon series “Why we do What we do”, we focused on God’s global kingdom, encouragement, and hospitality, as well as the laborers being few but the harvest being plentiful. Usually when you hear about that harvest being plentiful or think about Missions trips and doing service projects, often we imagine it as being far away. And that has been the focus for the past three weeks. However, this Saturday, we have a change to harvest in our local community! A collection of members from Creekside our participating in Jubilee Service Day and helping out...

Recently I’ve been thinking of the idea of the Sabbath. To a lot of us, a Sabbath sounds like a vacation. Something to look forward to after all your work is done and the chance to just take a break and relax. But often, a Sabbath falls in the middle of your work. When God created the Heaven’s and the Earths, he rested after he was finished, but when Jesus took his breaks they were in the middle of his work. He would rest right after he preached to one group of people, as he is about to preach to another. He took a rest with God after the Last Supper, but before his betrayal. Jesus’ example...

Following God’s plan In one of my Seminary classes we are currently reading over the minor prophets, which are the last 12 book of the Old Testament. These books are often overlooked or viewed as unimportant. Both because of their name (The Minor Prophets) and because they are much shorter than most of the other Old Testament books! This week we read from Habakkuk and Zephaniah. These two books contained one powerful message; evil is coming in the form of the Assyrian and Babylonian armies, and God will not stop it. God used the armies and the exile of his people to turn them back towards...

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” (Rom. 8:1-2). These words have been going through my head for the past couple of days.   For those of you who weren’t at church this past Sunday, Keith Ferrin spoke on Romans 8. He challenged everyone to read these words and all of Romans 8 daily, and he said that if we did that we would become a changed people.   Well if you’re anything like me, than you thought about it when he said it and...
